About Me

Design Groove is the online home of Ben Mitchell, an East Bay freelance web designer. This site was put together as a way to show my portfolio as well as give me the chance to write articles about the ins, the outs and the self taught lessons I've learnt about the web design world.

Born and raised in Australia, I graduated Griffith University in 2001 with a degree in Information Technology majoring in Computer Science and Information system. Since then I have been fortunate enough to accrue four years of web design experience and move to the United States to be with my fiance. It has been in the last 2 years since moving to America that I have been able to consolidate my experience as a web developer for one of Australia's biggest financial institutions and give full focus to my passion for web design and the languages that make solid, standards based design possible.

I'm an advocate for web standards and aspire to contribute to the online design community by producing elegant solutions for clients that push my skills and abilities. I'm continually striving to learn new techniques and methodologies as well as keeping a proverbial ear to the grind stone when it comes to staying abreast of new web languages and technology.

Outside of my time behind the computer screen, you can find me on the slopes snowboarding, taking photos or listening to some good tunes.
